You can never be sure of the extremes people will go to to be different. It is like things don’t have to be attractive or even efficient as long as they are different. This is definitely evidenced by the fashion designers of today. The more outrageous the better seems to be the trend. People even go as far as to wrack their brains attempting to find the most unique wedding favors. Originality takes precedence over practicality in the minds of these people. They are not concerned about things being weird or even silly. If it’s different, it works for them.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I picked up the Sunday paper and read the classifieds. There were so many dental practices for sale. It was like people selling their cars or old clothes. I pretty much hardly remember any of them being in the ads. Now I am helplessly curious as to why there are nine of them on the market. I got to thinking that something happened law wise or tax wise to provoke such a rash of sales. My seven year old daughter heard me discussing it and she thinks it’s because the Tooth Fairy is doing such a good job protecting our teeth.

I have this business that just about keeps my head above water by paying for my meager lifestyle. I am aware that it has this super potential to really turn into something valuable. The trouble is that I have no real passion for it and I would like to sell it and move on. On the other hand, I don’t want to give it away for too low a price. I wonder if I could get someone to do what my cousin had done when he had a dental practice valuation so he could retire. I guess I’ll give him a call.

I could never understand the concept of wedding favors. One of these days I am going to take the time to research their beginning. It always seemed strange to me that the newly wed couple had to give these favors. I thought the reception was the way they showed their appreciation for the guests attending and gifting them. After all, you get entertainment, libations, usually a great meal and to top it off a piece of incredible cake. To me, the favors never seemed necessary. The sharing in the ceremony and union were always payment enough. However, I do appreciate the acknowledgement.

Harry was the last of the guys who seemingly hung around the local tavern for ever. One by one the boys were peeling off into wedded bliss and beginning family life away from momma and poppa. Harry was reluctant to make the move. He was engaged to Sonia for five years and she was beginning to feel that that would be their permanent state. We all felt he would never get the courage to get to the altar. Yesterday the the one thing happened to prove us all wrong. We received wedding invitations from them and we all smiled. He finally committed.

I am nowhere near being considered a prolific traveler, but I have been to my share of places around this magnificent planet of ours. Recently I was invited to a destination wedding in the beautiful nation of Chile. I had no idea what to expect in the way of how the wedding would be. It turned out that the couple actually preferred to stick as close to the American way as possible. The one exception was their unity ceremony. The flames weren’t those of a normal candle ceremony like we are accustomed to. They opted for these enormous torches to join flames and it made for a spectacularly beautiful ritual.

Well I finally decided to get off my seat and liquidate the contents of the unit. It turned out that we donated just about everything to a charity. At least something worthwhile became of the items. Oh, I must say it was fun when we discovered a carton of the personalized napkins from our wedding.

Surely the BP corporation is complying as well as can be expected and it is appreciated. The problem is that the spill occurred in 2010 and yet there are those that have not yet received their settlement checks.
